Scores use the full criterion calculations before weighting. We show two decimal places for readability and rank by the underlying totals. The top two are only 0.07 points apart; use the job matches and evidence to choose whom to call.

How we made the shortlist
We screened 1,033 written Google reviews posted from 8 November 2025 to 7 November 2026 across 30 Ottawa plumbing companies. We requested up to 100 reviews per listing, newest first, using the same settings. Four companies met the review, service and credential requirements. The other 26 are listed below with the main evidence gap.
We counted specific customer experiences, gave more weight to recent accounts and moved small samples toward the category benchmark. We checked coverage against published service information and looked for an active individual plumbing credential tied to each prospective pick. We did not hire the companies for test jobs. We used the same evidence and criterion weights for all four picks and carried each calculation at full precision into the overall score.
The Skilled Trades Ontario register verifies individual plumbers. Before booking, ask who will do the work, check their credential, and get the call-out fee and repair estimate in writing.

Before you book a plumber
For a routine repair, describe the same problem to each company. For example, say which sink is clogged, whether other fixtures drain normally, and whether anyone has already attempted a repair. Ask what the visit covers before comparing prices.
Compare the total, not just the call-out fee
Ask whether the diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair, what labour and parts are included, and whether there is an after-hours charge. Get the estimate in writing and ask how you will approve any extra work. The scores above measure reported quote clarity. They do not tell you who will charge least for your job.
Check who will do the work
Ask for the name of the person assigned to your job and check their credential in the Skilled Trades Ontario register. The register checks individuals. A credential linked to a company does not establish who will turn up for a particular call.
What to ask about follow-up
Ask what the warranty covers, how long it lasts and what happens if the same problem returns. For a planned repair, compare written estimates for the same scope before deciding. For an urgent call, confirm the arrival window and any emergency fee before booking.
Why the list stops at four
A company needed at least three usable independent experiences per review criterion and ten across the business, published evidence of its services, and an active named plumbing credential linked to the business. The list below distinguishes a missing credential match from a confirmed credential with too little review evidence.

These figures have different scopes and do not establish the total for the same job, so they did not affect rankings. We did not obtain comparable written quotes and did not name a Best Value pick.
